A short drive to the oldest port on the Murray River and the place where the Murray and Darling rivers meet. After settling on the bank of the Darling River we rode the bikes along the Thegoa Lagoon and Reserve, saw where the rivers meet, toured Old Wentworth Goal, visited the museum and climbed the dunes of the Perry Sandhills (a famous filming location). A beautiful, tranquil place to rest for the night.

Moved across the Murray to Buronga, gateway to Mungo National Park. Spent time river fishing with a few feathered friends and a quick bike ride through a maze of dirt tracks to the Mildura Weir.

Past two nights spent at Apex Park, Mildura by the Chaffey Bend state forest. The caravan park was nestled among the river reds and opposite a broad, sandy beach on the banks of the Murray River. A great bike path followed the river for miles. Well maintained and lots of wildlife.

Travelled from Swan Hill to Mildura via Ultima, situated in the northern Victorian mallee country and central wheat belt. A special Ultima Centenary pays tribute to the faith and courage of the town’s pioneers.

Pental Island lies between the Murray River and Marraboor River (little Murray), about 5 km from Swan Hill.
